Six chemical elements — C, H, O, N, Ca and P — make up to 99 percent of the human body. Only 1% in various amounts includes the next five elements as potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium. Sulfur seems to be not included in this list, but it's the third most abundant mineral in your body and very powerful antioxidant. Sulfur is present in all living tissues. Some of these indicators include signs of aging as wrinkles, sore muscles and joint pain, which may be an indication of a sulfur deficiency.

  • Nano-size sulfur particles are useful for modification of carbon nano tubes, and synthesis of nano composites for lithium batteries.

For recent years scientists study how to synthesize sulfur nanoparticles in aqueous media and also study the effect of different surfactants on particle size.

Scientific research published here https://www.nature.com/articles/srep01910 In Scientific Reports 3, Article number: 1910 (2013) under title ‘Ultrafine Sulfur Nanoparticles in Conducting Polymer Shell as Cathode Materials for High-Performance Lithium/Sulfur Batteries’’ group of scientists (Hongwei Chen, Weiling Dong, Jun Ge, Changhong Wang, Xiaodong Wu, Wei Lu, Liwei Chen) wrote:

‘For Li/S batteries, submicrometer sulfur particles with graphene oxide wrapping and ~10μm sulfur/polymer composite particles have been prepared and shown promising high and stable specific capacities16,22. Considering the highly insulating nature of sulfur, it is thus intriguing to explore the nanoparticle approach and investigate the size effect truly down to nanometer scales.’  

Other research Green Synthesis of Nano-Sized Sulfur and Its Effect on Plant Growth (published at Journal of Agricultural Science; Vol. 8, No. 1; 2016)

Sulfur nanoparticles (SNPs) obtained in the green synthesis from Melia azedarach leaves were applied to the field of soil 100 ppm–600 ppm doses. Group of scientists in conclusion of this article confirm that: ’’A novel approach for green synthesis of sulfur nanoparticles by using Melia azedarach leaves extract in one-pot liquid phase reaction at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure has been reported for first time. The described approach gives highly crystalline pure sulfur nanoparticles with uniform shape and average particle size of 5-80 nm. The concentrations of Melia azedarach leaves extract and sodium thiosulfate ions are playing an important role in the green synthesis of sulfur nanoparticles. XRD, SEM, and FT-IR support the formation and stability of the biosynthesized SNPs. Thus it can be concluded that plant extracts can be used as simple, low-cost and environmentally friendly biomaterial acting as stabilizing and dispersing agent in the synthesis of SNPs. Preliminary results indicated that SNPs suppress crop disease and subsequently enhance the Cucurbita pepo growth. This enhancement suggests that a result of the reduction of the presence of pathogenic organisms in the soil and the potential nutritional value of SNPs through producing sulfur organic compounds in the plant.’’
